Yes, it’s true, the Springfree™ Trampoline is another great Kiwi first! The Springfree is the first true trampoline alternative design since the original was released in 1937. It’s hard to believe that it took a Kiwi to create the breakthrough in one of the world’s most unchanged product designs in history.  Imagine what we’d be driving or working on if this had been the story with the automobile or the computer.

The Springfree™ Trampoline was invented in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Canterbury by Professor Keith Alexander (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._Keith_Vivian_Alexander ).

The Springfree™ Story

In 1992, Dr Alexander suggested to his wife that they install a trampoline in their backyard for their growing family.  The response was, “…I won’t have one of those death traps in my back yard…you’re a smart guy…if you want a trampoline in our backyard, then go make a better one…”.  After a decade of research and development, Dr Alexander released his first prototypes in 2002.
